Pemaquid Craft Co-op
Top of the Hill in New Harbor, next to the Fire Station, across Rt. 130 from Harbor Ice Cream. You can't miss it. It's the mother of all craft co-ops in Maine. Two floors, 15 rooms full of stuff. Everything is made in Maine. All members are full-time Maine residents. (We actually have to prove our residency before we can join.) Open daily, May 1-October 31; Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays during November and December.

Granite Hall Store
Smack in the heart of metropolitan Round Pond. If you can find Round Pond, you've found Granite Hall Store. My own photos notwithstanding, Granite Hall also is a wonderful place to spend time. Good ice cream, real old-fashioned penny candy and lots of books, charts, cards, wool clothing and other assorted odds & ends you're not likely to find anywhere else. It's a destination in and of itself. May-December.

Anchor Inn
Past Granite Hall, on the harbor at Round Pond. Very good food, very relaxed atmosphere. Right beside the water. Cool sea breeze. Try the Round Pond Reuben for lunch. It's different, and delicious. (But it's not seafood.) Friendly staff. Mother's Day-Columbus Day.

Damariscotta River Grille
Main Street in Damariscotta. Same folks who run Anchor Inn. Good food, good cheer. The clam chowder is a wee bit of Heaven sent down to Earth. Look for my photos in the restrooms. Yeah, I know, it sounds weird, but I sell a lot of pics out of those restrooms. There's a lot to be said for a captive audience. Open all year.

Samoset Restaurant
My favorite haunt. Chad & Erin put out some fine eats in a good atmosphere. Chad's the chef, and he's an Alabama boy, so there's a Southern flair to the New England fare, and the meat loaf is to die for! Samo, as it has come to be known, is on Route 130, just down the hill from the Pemaquid Craft Coop. Open all year.
Boothbay Regional Art Foundation
7 Townsend Ave. That's Ground Zero in Boothbay Harbor. Excellent showcase for a lot of Midcoast Maine talent. May-October. And if you have occasion to visit St. Andrews Hospital in Boothbay Harbor, the Art Foundation supplies pictures for the walls there. I usually have a few prints for sale along the corridors.

Flying Mountain Artisans
28 Main St., Southwest Harbor, Maine. This is on Mount Desert Island, on what is cheerfully referred to in those parts as the "poor side" of the island. A nice shop with quite a selection of Maine-made crafts and art. I'm in the main Gallery room. Open year-round, but every day Memorial Day through Columbus Day, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
